It’s really a good read for you all to understand how the training programme works and the logic behind every single exercise/set you do. As they say, understanding is the first step to learning, so take some time out to read this and it will definitely benefit your training progress and motivation greatly!
For starters, skip chapter 1 and go straight to chapter 2. I strongly encourage reading chapters 2 to 5 as they breakdown the full training cycle and tells you how every phase prepares your body ultimately for the big race. Its really wordy, so try not to choing it all in one go. Its more important to read slowly and digest rather than choing through it all and learn nothing.
For the technique chapters, as this book was written in 1992, the stroke may have evolved slightly over time so its best to listen and follow to the updated strokes of bill/suzie/desmond. However, the technique chapters here is still a very good read to understand the fundamentals and mechanics of the core stroke, so yes do take time to read them too.
Until the next time, happy reading !
cheers,Elisha
